Upcoming 2025 Benefits
Mercury Insurance regularly reviews benefits, programs, and perks for team members so that no matter where you are in your life and career, you will find value in the available benefit options. To help you protect yourself and your family physically and financially, we are pleased to present Mercury's 2025 Benefits Program. Many of these benefits are paid for in whole or in part by Mercury. Other benefits are offered as voluntary options to be paid by you through the convenience of pre-tax and post-tax payroll deductions. This landing page provides information of each of the benefits offered to assist you with understanding your benefits and to help you in making the best decision about your benefits.
When to Enroll
When You’re First Eligible
When you first become eligible for benefits coverage, you must enroll within 30 days of your hire date. If you don’t enroll within that time frame, you’ll only be enrolled for coverage that’s automatically provided (such as long-term disability and basic life and AD&D insurance).
During Open Enrollment
You can enroll during Open Enrollment, which occurs during November of each year. Benefits elected during Open Enrollment will become effective on January 1 of the following year.
Who is Eligible?
You’re eligible for benefits through Mercury if you work 30 or more hours per week. Eligibility begins on the 1st of the month following your date of hire.
Your Dependents
When enrolling in your benefits, you can also add your eligible dependents. Eligible dependents include:
- Your spouse
- Your registered domestic partner
- Your children up to age 26
- Your children of any age who are permanently disabled
- Blue Shield Mandated Change – High Deductible Health Plan (HDHP) deductible increases.
- Saver HDHP: Deductible increase from $1,600 to $1,650 (individual) and from $3,200 to $3,300 (family)
- Super Saver HDHP: Individual deductible increase from $3,200 to $3,300.
- Blue Shield – Amazon Pharmacy will replace CVS Caremark Mail Service Pharmacy for Tier 1-3 eligible medications as the new prescription home delivery service. This change means a smoother, digital-first experience. Blue Shield members currently receiving prescriptions via mail will be provided information on how to seamlessly transfer this service to Amazon Pharmacy. Blue Shield members will receive new ID cards with updated pharmacy details, accompanied by instructions to bring their new ID card to the pharmacy at their next visit. Updated ID cards can be accessed through the member's online myblueshield account and via the Blue Shield mobile app. Below is a summary of the enhancements taking place.

- Retail Pharmacy Network - Members will continue to have access to our expansive network, which includes all major retail chains (Walgreens, CVS, Target, Safeway, Vons, Costco) and local pharmacies
- Mail Order Prescription Delivery
- Amazon Pharmacy home delivery begins 1/1/2025.
- Active members with CVS Caremark Mail Services will be notified of the transition to Amazon Pharmacy starting October 2024.
- Members will have phone access to pharmacists 24/7 through Amazon Pharmacy.
- Formulary
- No formulary changes specific to Pharmacy Care Reimagined.
- Formulary changes are made routinely based on the latest medical literature, clinical guidelines, and information from the Food and Drug Administration.
- Filling Presciptions - No disruptions to current prescriptions, refills, or prior authorizations (other than mail order, as noted above).
- Customer Service - No changes to customer support; any direct pharmacy questions should still go to local retailers or Amazon Pharmacy for mail order concerns.
- Specialty Network - CVS Caremark Rx Services will continue to provide specialty pharmacy services.
- Kaiser HMO – Adding coverage for Acupuncture/Chiropractic. $25/visit, up to a combined total of 30 visits per 12 month period.
- Health Savings Account – Contributions limits have increased to $4,300 for individual coverage and $8,550 for family coverage. Individuals who are 55 or older can contribute an additional $1,000 as a catch-up contribution.
- MetLife Legal – We are adding 20 hours of contested or uncontested divorce support.
- Carrier Change! – Mercury’s diabetes support program will be changing from Virta to Blue Shield and Kaiser direct programs.
- Carrier Change! – Mercury’s Voluntary Benefits (Accident, Critical Illness, and Hospital Indemnity) are moving from Cigna to New York Life (NYL).
- Voluntary Plan Changes
- Accident Insurance: Now covers accidents related to organized sports.
- Critical Illness Insurance: If you elect coverage for your Spouse and Children, their policy will be 100% of your elected coverage. Enhancing the plan to include coverage for all reoccurring conditions, and Diabetes (type 1).
- Hospital Indemnity Insurance: Now includes coverage for maternity, mental/nervous and substance abuse. Enhancements to coverage include newborn/healthy baby confinement and rehabilitation facility unit confinement.
